Article 9 explained in plain English
This article specifies who may apply for the temporary work visa for Hajj and Umrah services, and what that applicant must do:
First: who may apply? Applications are limited to establishments approved to provide Hajj and Umrah services. An establishment not approved for these services may not apply.
Second: what are the obligations?
- Enter all the application data through the automated system, specifying the establishment's permanent address and the establishment's address for the temporary work.
- Submit the following to the Kingdom's missions abroad before the visa is granted: a copy of the employment contracts signed by both parties, and medical insurance for the worker.
The accuracy of this data is particularly important, since paragraph 2 of Article 20 punishes with a fine of not more than SAR 15,000 anyone shown to have given an address, data or documents through the Ministry's website that are incorrect, or whose premises are shown to be closed during the season, and the penalty multiplies with the number of violations.
Anyone who needs to assess the obligations of their establishment may consult a lawyer specializing in recruitment and visa regulations.
Practical example
A catering company approved for Hajj services in Makkah wants to recruit cooks for the season. The company enters the application data in the automated system, stating its permanent address and the address of the site where the cooks will work, and then submits the signed employment contracts and medical insurance to the embassy before the visas are granted.
