Article 6 explained in plain English
This article defines the role of the National Committee for Voluntary Service, which rests on a general responsibility of coordination between beneficiary bodies and relevant bodies in everything concerning voluntary work, within the provisions of the Law. A beneficiary body, according to Article 1, is any non-profit body, public or civil, that benefits from voluntary work.
Its tasks in particular include:
- Supervising the preparation and implementation of voluntary work strategies.
- Supervising the databases of volunteers.
- Supporting the organization of conferences and seminars, and encouraging and activating research and studies on voluntary work, in coordination with the bodies concerned.
- Highlighting voluntary efforts in the Kingdom at the national, regional and international levels.
- Preparing an annual report on voluntary work in the Kingdom.
Amendments: the article was amended by Royal Decree No. M/111 dated 10/7/1444 AH; the phrase "and relevant bodies" was added to the preamble, paragraph (1) was amended to its current text, and paragraphs (2) and (7) were deleted, which is why the numbering skips.
The Committee carries out these tasks through its meetings, which Article 5 governs. As for field obligations toward volunteers, such as receiving their applications, training them and following up their performance, these fall on the beneficiary body under Article 7.
