Article 9 of the Saudi Public Prosecution Law

This article deals with two matters: the ladder of posts and the financial treatment of the members of the Authority.

First: the titles of the posts, in the order given in the text:

1. Investigation Lieutenant.
2. Investigator (C).
3. Investigator (B).
4. Investigator (A).
5. Deputy Head of an Investigation and Prosecution Department (B).
6. Deputy Head of an Investigation and Prosecution Department (A).
7. Head of an Investigation and Prosecution Department (B).
8. Head of an Investigation and Prosecution Department (A).
9. Appeals Prosecutor.
10. Head of Investigation and Prosecution Departments.

Second: salaries and benefits

The members are treated, in salaries, allowances, bonuses and benefits, as their counterparts under the Judiciary Law, according to the table equating the Authority's posts with judges' posts that is officially approved. The article gives no specific amounts; it refers to the Judiciary Law and the equivalence table.

The article uses the words "the Authority" and "members of the Authority" as worded, and what is meant by them in this Law is the members of the Public Prosecution.

Amendments: the current text is the version contained in Royal Decree No. (M/31) dated 13/4/1436 AH.

It is followed by Article 10, which provides that the Attorney General is appointed with the rank of minister by royal order from among those who meet the conditions for holding the post of Head of Investigation and Prosecution Departments at the least, which is the last post on this ladder.
