Article 44 explained in plain English
This is the last article of the Law and sets the date it takes effect. The Law does not apply from the day it was issued or the day it was published, but 90 days after the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
The purpose of this period, as is usual in laws, is to give the relevant bodies and existing associations and organizations time to prepare to apply the new provisions.
Fixing the date of effect has practical consequences, including:
- The provisions of the Law apply from that date.
- The repeal of the 1410 AH Regulation of Charitable Associations and Institutions, provided for in Article 43, is tied to this Law taking effect.
The 90-day period is thus a time gap between publication of the Law and the start of its application, which associations and organizations would do well to use to review their positions and articles of association. The text of the article does not state the actual date of publication, so knowing exactly when the Law took effect requires referring to the date it was published in the Official Gazette.
