Article 2 of the Saudi Voluntary Service Law

This article sets out the purposes the Voluntary Service Law was made to achieve, which in its text in force are:

• Spreading a culture of voluntary work among members of society and its institutions.
• Regulating the relationship between the parties to voluntary work and setting their rights and duties, that is, the relationship between the volunteer, the beneficiary body and the volunteer team.
• Strengthening the values of national belonging, humanitarian work and social responsibility among members of society and its institutions.
• Developing the abilities of volunteers and directing them toward national priorities.

The paragraphs of the article begin at number 2 because paragraph (1) was deleted by Royal Decree No. M/111 dated 10/7/1444 AH, so paragraphs 2 to 5 remain without renumbering.

The objectives have practical value even though they do not create direct obligations; they help in understanding and interpreting the rest of the Law's provisions when needed.

The article is linked to the definitions in Article 1, which set out who the volunteer is and who the beneficiary body is, and it comes before Article 3, which creates the National Committee for Voluntary Service.
