Article 18 explained in plain English
This article regulates the forms used in donation and organ transplantation, to ensure procedures are uniform across facilities:
- Preparing the forms: the Center prepares the procedural forms needed for use in organ transplant programs.
- The unified donation form: the Center also prepares a unified form for donation, and the regulations set the data it must contain. The text does not state this data.
- Approval and distribution: the Center supplies health facilities with these forms and the unified form after the Director General approves them.
The practical benefit is that consent to donation and the other procedures are documented in one format in all facilities, which reduces errors and disputes, makes it easier to supervise facilities, and protects the rights of the donor and his family. The requirement of the Director General's approval before supply also ensures that facilities do not circulate unofficial forms or forms that differ from one facility to another.
This article comes after Article 17 on following donors, and before Article 19 on national waiting lists.
