Article 8 of the Saudi Job Search Allowance Regulation

This article regulates what may happen to payment of the allowance after it begins:

First: immediate stopping in any of these cases: (a) the payment period ends, (b) the beneficiary requests stopping, (c) their death, (d) any condition of entitlement in Article 5 ceases to be met.

Second: the effect of stopping:

• A person whose allowance was stopped because the period ended is not entitled to submit a new application.
• For a person whose allowance was stopped at their request or because a condition ceased to be met, the Fund may accept their application to complete payment as the implementing rules provide, without prejudice to the provisions of Article 7, provided the total payment period, continuous or not, does not exceed 15 months, taking into account the amounts in Article 3.

Third: reduction: the allowance is reduced by SAR 200 a month if the beneficiary does not comply with one of their obligations in Article 7 as the implementing rules provide, and the reduction continues until the end of the payment period.

Fourth: deduction: the value of monthly income and wealth is deducted from the allowance as the implementing rules provide.

Fifth: temporary suspension: the Fund may temporarily suspend payment for a period not exceeding 6 months, and the implementing rules set its cases.

Note the difference between stopping, suspension and reduction, since each has a different effect. Related to this is the provision of Article 9, which requires a beneficiary who deliberately provided incorrect information to repay the whole allowance; stopping because a condition ceased is one thing, and recovery for deliberate misleading is another. Anyone who has a decision issued against them that they consider incorrect should consult a lawyer who specializes in administrative cases.
