Article 90 explained in plain English
This article deals with the case of collective recourse: the holder of a bill claims against all the endorsers and the drawer together.
The rule: they have, in relation to each of them, the time limit set out in the preceding article, that is, Article 89.
Article 89 set time limits for claiming against drawers and endorsers on bills drawn from the Hejaz Kingdom, as the text puts it, and payable abroad: three months for the countries of the Arabian Peninsula, Egypt, Turkey and the coasts of the Red Sea, six months for the coasts of the Mediterranean and British India, and a full year for any others.
The meaning of this article is that claiming against everyone at one time does not change or shorten the time limit; rather the holder keeps, in relation to each of them, the same time limit set in Article 89. It cannot be argued against the holder that a collective claim is subject to one shorter time limit.
Article 91 follows, giving each endorser the right to claim against whomever he has recourse to, individually or together, within the same time limits, with the time limits starting, for each of them, from the date suit is brought against him.
If you intend to have recourse against several of those liable on an international bill, consult a lawyer who specializes in commercial paper to calculate the time limits accurately.
