Article 11 explained in plain English
This article regulates how people get access to standards, through two provisions:
1. Publication: the Saudi standard and the related document are published in a special edition, by one of the following means:
- the Authority's publications.
- its website.
- any other means the Authority sees fit.
2. Sale through authorized bodies: the Authority may authorize whomever it sees fit from:
- public sector bodies.
- private sector bodies.
- international or regional organizations.
to sell its standards and related documents, under the conditions and provisions set by the regulations.
Relationship to other articles: this article sits alongside Article 10, which sets the symbol of the Saudi standard (SASO) and makes Arabic its language for interpretation, and Article 12, which regulates the periodic review of the standard or review at the request of the relevant bodies.
Practical effect: someone who wants the text of a Saudi standard can look for it in the Authority's publications or on its website, or buy it from a body the Authority has authorized. The text does not specify the prices of standards or the conditions of authorization, which are left to the regulations.
Someone who wishes to become a body authorized to sell standards should refer to the relevant regulations, and may consult a lawyer who specializes in commercial cases.
