Article 9 explained in plain English
This article sets out the conditions that must be met by whoever works as part of the vehicle crew used in the activity of transporting cash, precious metals and valuable documents, which are five conditions:
- He must be of Saudi nationality and not less than 20 years and not more than 50 years of age.
- His qualification must not be less than general secondary education or its equivalent.
- He must not have previously been sentenced for a prescribed hadd offense, or for a crime of dishonor or breach of trust, unless his reputation has been restored.
- He must be medically fit.
- He must have completed the necessary training requirements at the centers approved by the General Security Directorate.
These conditions are lighter in qualification and age than the manager's conditions in Article 8 (which require at least 25 years of age and a university qualification), but they add an upper age limit, medical fitness and training, because of the nature of field work. The conditions apply together, so meeting some of them is not enough.
After appointment, the crew is bound by the duties mentioned in Article 10 on the safety of the transported items and not leaving the vehicle empty. Anyone who needs to verify that the conditions apply to a particular case may consult a lawyer specializing in administrative cases.
Practical example
A 22-year-old Saudi holding a general secondary certificate wants to work as part of a cash transport vehicle crew with a guarding company in Dammam. In addition to a clean record, he must show his medical fitness and complete the training at a center approved by the General Security Directorate.
