Article 9 explained in plain English
This article explains the powers of the Alimony Fund's board of directors. The board works to achieve the Fund's goals, and it has, by way of example and not limitation:
- Approving the Fund's plans and work programs.
- Setting the responsibilities and powers of the Fund's General Manager.
- Setting the amounts of temporary alimony and the period for paying it, which is the alimony referred to in paragraph (3) of Article 4.
- Accepting donations, grants, gifts, bequests and endowments.
- Approving the draft annual budget, the final account, the auditor's report and the annual report, in preparation for submitting them under the legal procedures.
What does this have to do with the beneficiary? Paragraph (3) of Article 4 allows the Fund to pay the beneficiary temporary alimony before a judgment for alimony is issued, recovering it from the amounts due under the judgment, and it must be returned within two months of the judgment becoming final if alimony is rejected. This article puts the amount of this temporary alimony and the period for paying it in the board's hands, so the Statute does not set them in figures.
Supporting powers:
- Forming permanent or temporary committees from its members or others for specific tasks.
- Using experts and advisers and setting their fees and period of work.
- Delegating some of its powers to the General Manager.
