تسعى الهيئة إلى تحسين وتطوير مزاولة المهنة والنهوض بها، ومراقبة جودة أدائها، وتنمية الوعي بقواعدها وسلوكياتها وأعرافها واحترامها، وكل ما من شأنه تطويرها وتنظيمها، وتسعى أيضاً إلى تحقيق الأهداف المنصوص عليها في هذا النظام، ولها على الأخص ما يلي:
1 - إعداد وتطوير واعتماد معايير موحدة لفروع التقييم مجتمعة، ومعايير لكل فرع من فروعه .
2 - وضع القواعد العامة اللازمة لامتحان الحصول على شهادة الزمالة لكل فرع من فروع التقييم.
3 - تنظيم دورات التعليم المهني المستمر لتطوير مستوى المنتمين إلى المهنة، والمشاركة في الندوات واللجان المحلية والدولية المتعلقة بمهنة التقييم .
4 - إعداد البحوث والدراسات وإصدار الدوريات والكتب الخاصة بالتقييم وما يتصل به.
5 - وضع الإجراءات المناسبة للرقابة الميدانية، للتأكد من قيام المقيّم المعتمد معايير التقييم والتقيد بأحكام النظام ولائحته التنفيذية.
6- تقديم المشورة الفنية في مجال اختصاصها.
7- جمع المعلومات والبيانات المتعلقة بالتقييم والاستفادة منها، وبناء قواعد بيانات ومعلومات خاصة بها.
8- إنشاء معاهد ومراكز متخصصة ذات صلة باختصاصاتها.

عُدلت الفقرة (5) من هذه المادة بموجب المرسوم الملكي رقم (م/109) وتاريخ 1441/8/22هــ، لتكون بالنص الآتي: "وضع الإجراءات المناسبة للرقابة الميدانية، للتأكد من قيام المقيّم المعتمد معايير التقييم والتقيد بأحكام النظام ولائحته التنفيذية".

- عُدلت هذه المادة وذلك بموجب المرسوم الملكي رقم (م/190) وتاريخ 1444/11/22هـ، وذلك على النحو الآتي:
1- تعديل ديباجة المادة لتكون بالنص الآتي:
" تسعى الهيئة إلى تحسين وتطوير مزاولة المهنة والنهوض بها، ومراقبة جودة أدائها، وتنمية الوعي بقواعدها وسلوكياتها وأعرافها واحترامها، وكل ما من شأنه تطويرها وتنظيمها، وتسعى أيضاً إلى تحقيق الأهداف المنصوص عليها في هذا النظام، ولها على الأخص ما يلي....".
2- إضافة ثلاث فقرات على النحو الآتي:
