Answer badges and “Fast responder”
The levels from Contributor to Platform expert, what each needs, the Fast responder badge, and where they show.
Last updated:
Each time you answer visitors' questions your listing earns a badge that clients can see. Badges are counted per listing from its published answers (answers under review or not published don't count).
Answer levels
| Badge | What it needs |
|---|---|
| Contributor | 1 published answer |
| Active contributor | 5 published answers |
| Distinguished contributor | 20 published answers, a verified listing, and 3 answers picked as “Best answer” or 10 “Helpful” votes on your answers |
| Platform expert | 50 published answers, a verified listing, and 10 answers picked as “Best answer” |
Your badge updates automatically when an answer is published, when the asker picks your answer as “Best answer”, and with every “Helpful” vote. The top two levels need licence verification.
The “Fast responder” badge
It shows when your median first reply to client messages in Messages is under two hours, over your last 5 conversations that you replied to (we need at least 3). It updates once a day. We only measure reply times; your messages are never shown.
Where badges show
- On your profile page next to your name.
- On your card in search results and on city and practice-area pages.
- Next to your name above each answer on question pages, and in the “Most answers” list on Q&A pages.
Do badges affect ranking?
Yes, slightly: each level moves your listing up a little in search results and among the answers to the same question. Paid placement and verification still come first, and the “Best answer” is always shown first.
Where do I see my progress?
The lawyer dashboard and Questions for you show your current level and what's left for the next one, for example: 2 more answers to “Active contributor”. The new-question email also reminds you when you're one or two answers away from the next level.
