Article 15 explained in plain English
This Article regulates stopping payment of compensation and then resuming it.
First: cases of immediate suspension — payment stops immediately in any of the following cases:
- Death.
- If the beneficiary has a monthly income from work.
- If they become unable to work.
- If they are no longer registered with the Ministry.
- If they are no longer searching for work seriously and actively.
- If they do not comply with training without an acceptable excuse.
- If they do not abide by the Ministry's instructions and directions.
- If they leave the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
- If they reach sixty and are entitled to a pension under the Social Insurance Law.
- Any other condition of entitlement in Article 8 ceasing to apply, such as Saudi nationality and completing work periods.
Second: resuming payment — if the obstacle that stopped payment ends, payment resumes from the first day of the month following the date of notifying the Ministry that it has ended, provided that the notice is given within 90 days of the date the obstacle ended. Anyone who misses this deadline does not benefit from this provision.
The Article refers to the Implementing Regulations for the provisions needed to apply both paragraphs. Article 5 divides the task of verifying these cases between the Organization and the Ministry. Anyone whose compensation was stopped and who wishes to object may use the objection routes the Law provides, and would do well to consult a lawyer specialized in social insurance.
Practical example
Mona was receiving compensation, then left the Kingdom on a trip, so payment stopped immediately. After she returned the obstacle ended, and she notified the Ministry 10 days later, so payment of her compensation resumes from the first day of the month following the date of her notice.
