Article 8 explained in plain English
This article imposes a simple but important practical obligation: every professionally accredited person must state three details on all his engineering work:
- His name.
- His professional grade.
- His professional accreditation number.
The obligation covers "all" engineering work, and under Article 1 engineering work includes studies, designs, drawings, supervision, execution, operation and maintenance.
The rule has clear practical benefits:
- It lets bodies and clients easily verify that the work comes from a professionally accredited person.
- It shows the engineer's professional grade, which under Article 1 is the grade he obtains from the Authority upon being accredited.
- It identifies who is responsible for the engineering work.
This rule ties in with Article 9, under which the Board of Directors sets the professional grades and their requirements, the term of accreditation and the procedures for renewing it, and with Article 7, which regulates the procedure for obtaining accreditation itself.
The article does not specify the form or manner of stating these details, and it does not state a penalty for violating it. Anyone who needs to assess his position in a particular violation would do well to consult a lawyer who specializes in administrative cases.
Practical example
Engineer Majed prepared house designs for a client in Medina. He must state his name, professional grade and professional accreditation number on the designs, so that the client and the body to which the designs are submitted can verify his accreditation.
