Article 13 explained in plain English
This Article sets out the composition of the Executive Board of the Consumer Protection Association and how its members are chosen.
Number of members: the Board consists of 9 members, all of them working members of the Association.
How they are chosen:
- Two thirds (6 members): elected by the General Assembly by secret ballot.
- One third (3 members): chosen by the person whom the Prime Minister appoints by order. That person also chooses one third of the alternate members, and the choice is made from among the working members.
The Board therefore combines members elected from the Association's base with members chosen through the person appointed by the Prime Minister, while the shared requirement remains that all must be working members.
Amendment: the opening wording of paragraph (2) was amended by Council of Ministers Resolution No. 226 dated 18/4/1438 AH, to read as set out above.
Related to this Article, Article 14 provides that the Board manages the Association's affairs to achieve its objectives, and prepares the internal, financial and administrative regulations and the nomination and election regulations for approval by the person appointed by the Prime Minister under paragraph (2) of this Article.
