Article 6 explained in plain English
This article places three operational obligations on the bodies licensed to transport cash, precious metals and valuable documents:
- Advance notification: the concerned body in Public Security must be notified of any transport operation in which the value of the transported items exceeds SAR 500,000, and the notification must be made sufficiently before it begins. The article does not specify the amount of this time in hours.
- Keeping to the route: the proposed route is followed, and is not changed except after coordination with the concerned body in Public Security.
- Timing of delivery and receipt: cash is received and delivered during the official working hours of banks and exchange establishments and companies.
Note that notification is tied to the stated amount being exceeded, so operations that do not exceed it are not covered by the notification requirement in this article, but the Law's other general obligations remain in place, including the insurance provided for in Article 5 and the supervision mentioned in Article 7.
Violating these obligations exposes the body to the penalties set out in Article 15. Anyone who needs to assess his establishment's obligations may consult a lawyer specializing in administrative cases.
Practical example
A licensed cash transport company in Jeddah will transport SAR 800,000 from an exchange branch to a bank. Because the amount exceeds SAR 500,000, it notifies Public Security sufficiently before the transport begins, follows the proposed route, and delivers the amount during the bank's official working hours.
