Legal questions

How do I read answers and mark the "best answer"?

Who answers, the lawyer card under an answer, answer order, the "Helpful" button, and choosing the best answer.

Last updated:

Published questions are in Legal Q&A with a Browse by category grid showing how many questions each category has, and each question has a Lawyers' answers section.

Who answers?

  • Lawyers from our directory: any lawyer with a listing can answer. Lawyers whose licence we've verified show the green Verified badge; others show Not verified yet.
  • Editorial answers: some common questions were prepared by the platform team and show a note that it is a common question prepared by the team or a general editorial answer.

The lawyer card under an answer

Under each lawyer's answer there's a card about them: logo, name and badge, city and practice areas, rating and number of reviews with the latest client review, a short bio, and how many questions they've answered on the site. From it:

  • View profile: the lawyer's full page.
  • Contact: the contact form on their profile. Ways to contact
  • Book a consultation: shows for lawyers who take paid consultation bookings.

Featured offices have a gold-edged card.

Answer order

The asker's Best answer comes first, then verified lawyers' answers, then other lawyers, then the editorial answer; within each group, the most "Helpful" first.

How should I treat an answer?

  • Press Helpful on an answer that helped you (you need to be signed in); it adds to the helpful count.
  • If you are the asker, mark one answer as the Best answer; you can unmark it with Unmark as best answer.
  • The sidebar lists Related questions from the same category and similar questions, with each one's answer count.

No answer yet

You see "No one has answered this question yet". The question is emailed to specialist lawyers in our directory, and the asker receives an email when the first answer is published. If you are a lawyer, press Answer this question on the page.
