Article 7 explained in plain English
This article sets out the amount of the fee for a license or its renewal, and the fee applies to the head office or a branch. The article divides the activities into two categories:
First: SAR 2,000 for each of:
- Printing presses, pre-press preparation services, publishing and distribution.
- Radio, television or cinema artistic production, and television and radio studios.
- Media studies and consultancy, and press services.
- Advertising and publicity, and public relations.
- Importing, selling or renting films and video tapes.
- Producing, selling or renting computer software.
Second: SAR 1,000 for each of:
- Libraries.
- Sound recordings and discs.
- Drawing and calligraphy.
- Photography.
- Copying and reproduction.
Note that the fee is the same for the initial license and for renewal, and that the article mentions the head office and the branch together, which means a branch is also subject to the fee as the article provides. The article does not mention some activities listed in Article 2, such as theater production and offices of foreign media outlets, so it sets no fee for them.
