Article 178 explained in plain English
This article identifies the earlier laws that the Civil Aviation Law replaces.
The repealed laws:
- The law on landing and transit of foreign military and government aircraft and diplomatic aircraft in the territory of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and exempting them from fees, issued by Royal Decree No. (7/7/15 AH/2559) dated 1/4/1372 AH.
- The law on establishing airports within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, issued by Royal Decree No. (7/7/1 AH/3456) in the month of Ramadan of 1372 AH.
- The air navigation law, issued by Royal Decree No. (17/2/22 AH/3481) dated 24/9/1372 AH.
Timing of the repeal: "On taking effect," that is, from the date the Civil Aviation Law begins to apply, not from its issuance.
Practical effect: These three laws may not be relied on after the Civil Aviation Law takes effect. They are mostly needed by researchers or when considering old events that predate the Law's taking effect.
Relation to neighboring articles: This article follows Article 177, which extends the Law's provisions to other aerial vehicles, and precedes Article 179, under which the Board of Directors issues the implementing regulations and decisions needed. Anyone dealing with an event that an old law may govern may consult a lawyer specializing in civil aviation law.
